Tavern On LaGrange Reviews

Invited here for a friend's bday brunch. Very nice place with valet parking. With both a full bar and stage, the inside is pretty big with tables, tabletops and seating. I loved the decor with pictures of classic singers and musicians. While service was a bit slow on taking orders, our server was very nice and explained the menu where we had questions. We started with bottomless orange and pineapple mimosas that were perfect and delicious. The food was served incredibly fast and hot, which made up for the slow service. I enjoyed an omlette, roasted potatoes and bacon. All delicious except for the bacon which had a rubbery texture. During our brunch we were entertained by a DJ, comedian and a live band. It was a good time for everyone. The volume of all however was extremely loud. You can barely hear the person talking next to you and it's difficult to carryon a conversation. I even went to get earplugs so that my tinnitus didn't flare back up. This is a fun place and great for small groups. Good food and entertainment. I'll definitely come back.

The Tavern On Lagrange has a great vibe - the food is amazing. If you want to hear some good music from local artists and live bands, this is the place to be. When I say this place was everything I imagined, this come highly recommended, the food portion OMG was enough for 2 people, this comes highly recommended. You can thank me later! 9wesMG

Whether you’re in for a casual weeknight bite or planning a celebration with live music, this vibrant venue balances chic energy with hometown hospitality. An inviting space with the heart of soul dining
Step inside 5403 S La Grange Rd, and you’re greeted by polished wood finishes, ambient lighting, and a warm welcome from staff who know how to make you feel like a regular. The menu is full of surprises. Think catfish nuggets crisped just right, lobster mac & cheese loaded with flavor, and fan-favorite fried chicken wings that have earned a local following.
As someone who’s dined here multiple times, I can vouch for their consistent service and generous portions. Friday nights come alive with live R&B and jazz, drawing a diverse crowd—from first-timers to devoted fans who know the performers by name. That fusion of good food and local talent makes the Tavern more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience.
Flavors that speak louder than words
Behind every dish is a story of comfort, seasoning, and creativity. While the soul food staples shine, the bar also deserves praise. Signature drinks like the Hennessy Punch or LaGrange Lemonade elevate the meal and keep the vibe festive. The chef’s use of classic Southern ingredients, paired with upscale presentation, hits that sweet spot between casual and refined.
Their brunch lineup on weekends is no less impressive: shrimp & grits, fluffy waffles, and mimosas that flow like the music. It’s clear that the kitchen prioritizes both taste and freshness, with thoughtful seasoning that never overpowers. The kitchen-to-table quality is something diners keep coming back for, making this spot feel like a well-kept secret—only it’s one everyone’s starting to talk about.
More than just dinner—it's where memories happen
What sets Tavern On LaGrange apart isn’t just the food—it’s the total package. The location, right near the pulse of Countryside, is accessible yet tucked enough to feel like a destination. The event space regularly hosts birthdays, anniversary parties, and girls’ night out. It’s a favorite among locals planning group outings thanks to its welcoming staff and lively environment.
Even during busy nights, service remains attentive. The staff offers smart recommendations based on your preferences, making first-timers feel confident ordering new things. The reviews say it best: "The food hits every time," "Live music is a vibe," and "Perfect spot for grown folks looking for good energy."
The place operates like a well-oiled machine—kitchen, bar, and entertainment all working in rhythm. That harmony is what leaves a lasting impression. Dining here isn't just about filling your plate; it's about sharing laughter over drinks, dancing to a sax solo, and feeling part of something real.
A destination for food, rhythm, and connection
In a time when many venues try to do too much, Tavern On LaGrange knows exactly what it is: a place where soulful food meets soulful music, where your server remembers your name, and the night always feels just right. It’s not just about the menu or the location. It’s the sum of good people, strong flavors, and honest fun that makes this spot one to remember—and return to.
This place has very low lighting, perfect for a romantic outing. We went for live music. It was way too loud to have a conversation. My cousin and I noticed the large portions of food everybody else got. We only ordered an appetizer-the spinach egg rolls. They were ok. I wanted dessert, but nothing was on the menu. When I asked, I was told they had cupcakes.
